  16. I know most of you will tell me that this should not be on this list or that
  17. you should have known Jim Drews rep but,
  18.  
  19. I bought the E-586 module and picked up MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1, some blank
  20. disks and the shareware version of DOOM.I installed the module with no
  21. problem. Read the doc's then the readme files. They don't have a BIOS yet but
  22. give you the BBS # for AMI and tell you to download one.  The BBS # was not
  23. in the doc's so I had to call. So I said OK and got a BIOS. Installed the
  24. software and entered the config portion. Stuff looked OK except there was no
  25. PicassoVGA video driver like the doc's show. I choose VGA and began to make a
  26. list so when I call back it would be one call and to there Mon. and Fri. only
  27. tech-line. 
  28. Well heres the bottom line;
  29. When the system boots I noticed that the BIOS states there is no mouse,serial
  30. and parralel ports. MS-DOS loads fine and I formated a Syquest for the PC.
  31. Then Windows. Windows keeps hanging up in the middle of the install. After 10
  32. trys I skipped it, added to the list and loaded DOOM. Doom installed fine but
  33. would not load. It stood struck when loading like Windows. I stoped and
  34. called the tech-line.
  35. -I needed S82.bios for the mouse to work (which I got by logging on to the
  36. AMI BBS again).
  37. -No ser. and par. at this time should be in a new version in about two to
  38. three weeks.
  39. -Windows wont work due to a bug in software. Look for it in a future new
  40. version of the software.
  41. -Doom proberly does not work because of the same bug stoping Windows from
  42. working.

  44. Now I must be bugging but Utilities Unlimited's ad in all the Amiga mags
  45. state,
  46. all of the above and some.

  48. I never understood why people were angry with Jim Drew since my Emplant Mac
  49. worked great, version 4.2 (Now it's at 5.3).
  50. e586 at version 1.1 in my opinion is not worth $.02. In fact I wish I could
  51. sue Jim for false advertisment and get back my $262, which is what all of the
  52. above software and hardware cost. Thats not including all the long distance
  53. calls and 25 hours I spent trying to make it work.

  55. P.S. I justified writing this letter to the list since Utilities Unlimited
  56. advertised in the latest issue of Video Toaster User. This means he's
  57. targeting the Toaster/LW base to sell his product. Hope I don't get flamed
  58. but I want to warn all of you.
